The Ortiz situation here is different. The HCTZ portion (the diuretic) of Losartan/HCTZ is available on it's own if he wanted to simply use a diuretic to flush his urine. If he didn't really need BP med's there would have been no reason to take the combo drug (Losartan/HCTZ) needlessly. The Losartan portion of the drug is not banned and is not a problem. In any event flushing the urine with a diuretic may help pass a urine test but not a blood test...and he did not test positive for any PED's. He has been placed on this med by 3 Dr's...the 1st one being in the ER so obviously he needs it. He might have gotten a TUE but things were not handled in his best interests. Nothing really points to him cheating...just poorly handled.
Maybe they didn't want it to get out that he needs the BP meds..that it might embolden Wilder and thought it would fly under the radar? But until they find PED's in his system he's not dirty.
