What was the bigger/more difficult layoff - Gamboa's or Walters (prior to Bud & Loma)

When Crawford fought Gamboa (who came up in weight) Gamboa was coming off a 385 day layoff. Isn't criticized.

When Lomachenko fought Walters (same weight) Walters came off a horrific layoff of 342 days. Is vilified for this.

    Which was the longer layoff?

According to my estimations 385 is a larger number than 342 by 43. So if more time off is worse than I'd have to say Gamboa's was a longer layoff.

    Discuss.

Nobody put a gun to either of their heads and made them takes the fights coming off of the layoffs. I don't think the results would have been any different if they were not coming off lay offs. Crawford KOed Gamboa because he was a much better fighter. Loma made Walters quit because he was a much better fighter. I don't think the layoffs had anything to do with their defeats. They could have had a fight 2 months before they fought Crawford and Loma and the results would have been the same. Leonard was retired for several years when he fought well against Hagler.

Let's not disregard the ridiculous size advantage that Crawford had. Gamboa showed who the better fighter actually was in the early rounds when he was outclassing Crawford, but the size advantage was too much for the little guy. Expect a similar result when Loma faces off against the smaller, older, and inactive Rigo.

I'm not sure. Bud tends to start a little slower (he's starting quicker now) as he's figuring his opponent out and that it's likely he had some nerves being that it was A) his first fight back home B) first HBO headline showcase C) Toughest, most experienced opponent.

Gamboa was ahead after a few rounds but no outclassing or anything. There was a size difference though and it's funny because those that ignore that are the ones already complaining about it in a fight that they called for and hasn't even happened yet.
