Shocked everyone? coWard had no choice but to retire. He had nothing but more losses around every corner.

He could have easily taken a voluntary or two for decent money.

Nah he was WAY overpaid by Roc Nation and they lost major cash on him to date. There's no way they would have let him do a fight that didn't yield some kind of return potential. Ward turned his back on Jay Z even worse than he did on his fans.

One more step toward seeing Beterbiev against the best in the division.

I don't recognize anyone on Koelling's resume besides Adamek.

A eurobum fighting for a vacant title, imagine that. Next, he'll be dragging up welters

Beterbiev and Bivol are getting easy rides to a world title. Let's see what happens with Gvozdyk and the WBO. Kovalev is currently #2 but something tells me Top Rank will maneuver him into a fight with an easier opponent for the vacant belt.

I actually would like to see how ward would work on beterbiev given that beterbiev seems to be a more complete package when compare with kovalev...yet ward body seems to wear down quite alot when I checked out his fight with Miranda...the speed and agility simply not there anymore... there were number of moves where ward seemed to be able to do back then has just gone

how did ward turn his back on his fans?

all his fans seem to be happy that he went out as the wba, ibf, wbo light heavyweight champion of the world.

                  no losses

Because he ducked GGG, ducked Stevenson, ducked Bellew and even had the nerve to call out Anthony Joshua when he knew damn well he was quitting I mean retiring. You're right though I should have worded it differently. HIS fans who needed a hero to believe in and fantasize about him coming to beat up all of their lifetime bullies are not going to feel slighted because he quits I mean retires with some expensive championship belts that still have wrapping paper stuck to the back of them. But REAL BOXING fans who actually believed in him and stuck up for him are left looking like total ass holes by backing a fighter who took years off to avoid guys like GGG, had obvious paid help "avenging" his defeat to Kovalev, and no matter how you slice it, quit when the going got tough and only had serious challenges that he knew he couldn't beat on his calendar.
