Why couldn't Canelo Alvarez beat Golovkin as convincingly as Pacquiao beat Margarito?

Considering I've been reading and hearing comments lately about how Golovkin is only as good (or rather as bad) as Antonio Margarito. As in, Golovkin's boxing level is at Margarito's level whilst many of those favoring Canelo Alvarez to beat Golovkin have been commenting on how much superior Canelo's boxing skill / level is, compared to Golovkin and the margin between the two overall in the skill / level department. As if Canelo Alvarez is a character from a play-station game with matrix like abilities whilst Golovkin is a Antonio Margarito clone. That's how the margin between the two have been described frequently between Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez in terms of boxing skill / level.

So why couldn't Canelo Alvarez demolish GGG as convincingly or more convincingly compared to how the legendary Manny Pacquiao demolished Antonio Margarito?

Prime Pac was a different beast with his offensive skills, he was an offensive powerhouse who throw crazy combos with great speed. Manny beat some of those fighters like nobody else. He destroyed Margarito, De la Hoya and Cotto. Knocked Hatton brutally out cold in just two rounds. Knocked Marquez down multiple times. Only man to ever finish Barrera.

Also GGG is a harder opponent than Margarito imo. Dont know why people would say that Margarito is on GGG's level or even more

Manny Pacquiao practically ended Margarito's career. Apart from the stoppage, Pacman beat Margarito pretty much as convincingly as Shane Mosley did. Especially when taking into consideration Pacman had no business even competing at that weight against opponents of that size whilst Mosley is a much bigger sized boxer than Pacquiao. So what Pacman did to Margarito (taking size into consideration) > what Shane Mosley did to Margarito.

Why does it matter you ask? Because if Canelo Alvarez was as skilled as many that favored him claimed him to be and if Golovkin was a Margarito clone as many claimed, then that's how big the margin of victory should've been for Canelo over Golovkin. However, it wasn't. Why was that?
