The next time former WBC super featherweight titlist, Francisco Vargas, steps into the ring, Joel Diaz will be in his corner as the lead trainer. Back on January 28th, Vargas was halted in eleven rounds by Miguel Berchelt, who in the process captured the WBC super featherweight world title. Prior to that, Vargas went through Fight of The Year wars with Orlando Salido and Takashi Miura. In all three fights he suffered severe facial damage from the all-action fights.

About damn time Vargas. This is a very smart move. I don't know who convinced him to do this move but Joel Diaz will hopefully be what the doctor ordered.

Joel Diaz will get him to use his boxing skills more and not have him go toe to toe as of late. Not to mention he will get high quality sparring on a daily basis.

Let Vargas come back against a journeymen fighter before he gets another crack at a title.
