Joshua would have hammered him I don't buy his excuse for why he retired the rigors of the sport he never took a lot of fun instrument the two hardest bouts he had and one of them the second was fairly easy against kovalev...

I think it was a combination of many things. Ward is/was my favorite boxer, so as a fan I think personally the lack of respect he got pushed him out the door. Along with other things of course like future health reasons and achieved financial success. More power to Ward though because #1 is your health, you can have the prettiest woman/women, large bank account, and lavish possessions but nothing is more important than good health. At 175 and above your brain can get scrambled by a 5-15 journeyman. Boxing will always be there for Ward, just not as a boxer anymore, maybe he can/will do an exhibition down the road...Comment

what a shock it was when team ward decided not to fight joshua. Team ward are usually so true to their word. I really could have seen that fight happening..... not.Comment

I don't understand why he would express interest in fighting Joshua but almost no interest in fighting Stevenson.
I know its partly because of his own doing but it seemed like no one wanted anything to do with Stevenson. I'm not saying other boxers were afraid to fight him but his brand is so low quality that it's not even worth it to step in the ring with him.Comment

WARD has been fighting since age 6. He wants time with family which is highly commendable. He cleaned out a tough division winning the super 6 @168 and then had the b@lls to move up to 175 and step to killer KOV and stopped hi TKO!! This is the way fighters should go out!!Comment

Dude shut up. You come on here talking nonsense constantly. Already called your bull**** once before.
Ward fought everybody there was for him to fight. How can you "barely" fight someone? That's just more of your bias crybaby ****. Nothing but excuses. First people were saying he couldn't leave oakland. Then he goes to Vegas and beats an overrated Kovalev.
How can you say HBO was riding Ward when they wouldn't put him as P4P for years, when it was clear he was the top guy? They've always discredited him.
Just a few weeks ago, a writer on this site wrote a piece debating him against Michael Spinks and called it a draw. He's probably the best or second best 168 guy ever. And he's up there at LHW. Just grow up. You're probably some middled aged weirdo throwing out insults across the net all day towards better men than you out of resentment. Sad stuff.
And you failed to address my criticisms of CoWard in the Super 6 Tourney - concession on your part that I am totally correct.
Fan boy - go play somewhere and look for a father figure.Comment
