He'll need to pick up the pace then. His average buy rate would suggest nothing close to that number, if he fights twice a year over that period.

But it also seems unlikely that he'd fight that long considering his age when he turned pro.

I don't see that happening. Take out the Floyd fight and Canelo can barely get 1 million buys fighting fighters with a big name. Chavez and GGG are his biggest fights and they barely hit ove a 1 million. Fights against Jacobs, Charlo, Lemiuex would probably give Canelo close to a mil buys but he will end up doing half that with other fighters. Remember that as big as a star Oscar was back then, he only did a million PPVs 4 times, and 2 of those were because of Floyd and Manny. Oscar had over 18 PPV fights too.
