You've been shooting too much dope lol. This isn't about Ward. I'm nobody's alt either, I've just got a life outside of the Internet.Comment

I see what you did there. Bravo.I disagree. McGregor took the fight seriously and respected the sport by actually training to win and fighting to win. Unlike the way James Toney went into MMA like it was a big joke and embarrassed both sports. Floyd unquestionably deserves this win on his books for a final tally of 46-3 with 1 no contest and he should go down in history as one of the top 5 Jr. Welterweights/Super Lightweights in the history of the 140lb weight class.Comment

When Muhammad Ali fought Antonio Inoki of Japan (wrestler)...it was a purely exhibition match of boxing vs wrestler. It didn't count for either of the competitor's record. However with Mayweather fighting a suddenly "pro" boxer in MMA legend McGregor, it is a farce likewise. Sure McGregor trained very hard (admirably making it a fight) and showed up but many RANKED boxers who are more "deserving" and able to contend Mayweather were largely ignored.
And so in my humble opinion, (obviously wouldn't count anywhere) - there should be an asterisk on Mayweather's 50th win.Comment

I really couldn't care less. Doesn't enhance his legacy or diminish it IMO. At this point Mayweather is old news, time for boxing to move on.Comment

Just what record are we talking about? 49 consecutive wins by Marciano is a record for heavyweights. If we are talking about undefeated winning streaks that is not even close. Sugar Ray Robinson went 91 fight fights without a loss.
Julio Cesar Chavez holds the longest undefeated streak in boxing history He fought his first 13 years without a loss.
He had 89 wins and one draw. Willie Pep started his career with a 62-0 record before losing. After that, he went 72-0-1.
What does 49-0 as a record really mean? It certainly is not a record for the number of wins without a loss. It means that Marciano had the longest winning streak of any heavyweight and Mayweather technically went 50-0. If that is a record, it is a record of what?Comment
