It is an excuse. I would think that a death of a family member would push a fighter to another zone mentally.

Brewster-klitvcko 1 for instance. Brewster's long time trainer passed away and brewster during the presser cried and vowed to KO wlad in the honor of his trainer.

It's not an excuse. He's stating a truth that his pops passed away.

Wtf are some if you thinking?

He probably did use it as motivation.
But sometimes that is not enough.

      Talent, experience, styles...

Why didnt he let it be known prior to the fight? He could have got more headlines and ticket sales.

            It is an excuse..

He's dad was ill for a long time and Lukes career kept him going probably alot longer than he would've otherwise. He did him proud.

He has my sympathies, but he could have just stayed quiet and left it between him and his family. Saying it after the fight is a bit tacky and makes him look like he's exploiting his dad's passing away to justify his loss.

He suffered alot with a long illness. It's simply the truth, things like that can drain a person. He may never have beaten Linares but it is a drain. Remember to be a human being not just a boxing critic.
