    • So Canelo was dominated by a slipping, deteriorating fighter? Canelo is overrated then...

      • Culture of immediacy.
It's why cheering for teams is not what it used to be. The Dallas Cowboys will be a completely different roster 4 years from now--guaranteed. And so too will your team sport involving a ball.
        Boxing has always been commercialized.
        Boxing has become corporatized.
Rather than spend time building narratives and celebrate competitive matchups (have you seen the highlight reels from the GGG/Canelo fight?! They're incredible. Some guy even made one with video game sound effects) , the HBOs of the world would rather make excuses for easily one of the most interesting boxing matches of this decade.
Both guys had a ton on the line, and they had the added pressure of the event to internalize, and they both hit like sledgehammers, and they both have ATG chins.
I can not wait for a rematch.
Can you imagine Canelo or GGG after the ref's instructions, asking: "got any excuses tonight?"
        I would **** my pants.

Neither guy is slipping, you closet bisexual, Lampley & a HBO team.
This is what happens when two of the best p4p fighters in the world meet in peak physical condition.

        • Loving the excuses from ggg fan club!

Rematch will settle it and it should be called,"No Excuses"...but of course team ggg and his fans will have excuses ready guaranteed!

          • Or maybe its just the fact he has faced better opposition in his last 2 fights? Seems convenient he has deteriorated just as he steps up a level I mean I don't doubt his style means a shorter career but powers the last thing to go and he didn't ko them like he was doing to all the others

The simple fact is he is a limited fighter who hits hard with an iron chin hes good at what he does which is walking forward using his head as his defense and overwhelming fighters with pressure

Mayweather was right straight up and down no special effects

              • LOL more excuses? But I thought you guys had him winning easy?

Lampley is a senile old troll anyway.

The implication being that even the haters know that's the only factor that can make GGG beatable. I just forget how low of intelligence the average poster here is and how they can't figure that out.
GGG is still a formidable force. I don't see much slippage. Danny Jacobs and Saul Alvarez are quality fighters who fought good close fights, yet they both lost. Both of these fights merit a rematch. It won't stop the back and forth about GGG and these guys, but it will help paint a better picture of all three of them.

Lampley thought he was calling the Amir Khan fight! Canelo landed some good ones, but Golvokin didn't move...a George Chuvalo type chin!

                    • how convenient this supposed slippage coincides with facing better comp.

put lil g in there against wade and monroe again i bet he'll look destructive once more. his defense was always trash he simply just overwhelmed guys with pressure but he was always hittable.

raise the level of comp and you will not look invincible anymore. this slippage talk is hogwash and robs due credit to guys like jacobs and canelo.

this slippage nonsense is a built in excuse from this point forward. if anybody beats or makes ggg look bad is not due to them being skilled is simply due to lil g gettin old. pathetic.
