I see it similarly although think that Wilder might get a late TKO if Ortiz tires. This is a great fight. Wilder has been chasing AJ but if Joshua wants to duck like a coward then what can he do? Wilder wanted to take on Povetkin, who used drugs to avoid him. So he goes and lines up Ortiz, the most accomplished non belt holder in the division. This is the most dangerous fight because Ortiz has the experience. There are flaws in AJ's style that will get him KO'd by Wilder. Hearn knows it and is in full protection mode. They are probably praying Ortiz can shock the world and upset Wilder. It won't happen. Wilder decision a game Ortiz. Ortiz is gritty so I think he can manage to go the distance like Stiverne did. He just won't be able to deal with Wilder if he can't get to him early.
You got a handle on Hearns though!Comment

Funny how AJ has done more in half the fights Wilder has had and you say he is ducking Wilder. That is what is truly laughable. Wilder finally fighting someone with a pulse 40 fights into his career. He wont even make it past Ortiz so he can forget about AJ. Toothpick legs going down he is too sloppy and has been spoon fed too long to correct that terrible style he has. That sloppy **** works on bums but an actual talented boxer like Ortiz is gonna use it against him. Wilder out inside of 9.Turning down giving a championship opportunity to an undeserving Dillayne Whyte or however the hell you spell Joshua's left overs is not the same as turning down a fight with AJ. Thats laughable. Stop trying to spin things. The fact is Eddie Hearn has yet to offer up a Joshua fight. AJ might have that UK fan base. Why not offer Wilder a UK fight? Wilder is even gonna take out Joshua's mandatory in Ortiz. Joshua will be clear of mandatories after this Pulev crap. So if Joshua's team does not attempt to make the Wilder fight next its an outright duck, plain and simple.Comment

You are right that if Joshua's team does not attempt to make the Wilder fight next it is an outright duck (unless the WBC and WBA attempt to get in the way), but then Hearn has already said that they want the winner of Wilder v Ortiz next.Turning down giving a championship opportunity to an undeserving Dillayne Whyte or however the hell you spell Joshua's left overs is not the same as turning down a fight with AJ. The fact is equally that Hearn hasn't even been in a position to offer the Wilder fight up to this point... After Klitschko Joshua was obligated to fight him again if Klitschko wanted it and at the same time the IBF stated that their mandatory had to come next before any other unifications.Comment

I have said all along that Joshua will be forced to fight Wilder. Hearn at one point said that Wilder is last. It was Wlad 2, Pulev, Ortiz and then Wilder. Now if he doesn't take the Wilder fight next, it will be a duck of epic proportions. Hearn doesn't care whether they fight or not. He is content matching Joshua with old men and inferior comp in the UK.Turning down giving a championship opportunity to an undeserving Dillayne Whyte or however the hell you spell Joshua's left overs is not the same as turning down a fight with AJ. He's the best opponent Wilder has ever faced. I wouldn't be surprised if he beats him either but it partly depends on whether Stiverne was really ill in their fight or not. If Stiverne was genuinely ill in the Wilder fight, then Wilder's jab isn't really as effective as it seemed in that fight, which means it won't be highly effective against Ortiz. He is going to need a hell of a jab to beat Ortiz.. the same jab that "appeared" to be on display against Stiverne.Comment

I want the best to fight the best every single fight. But I am also realistic.
AJ is 27 years old with 19 professional fights. He should not be thinking about legacy now. If I was 27 and in the position he is in, I would take a few fights against not-quite-the-best for maximum profit. AJ and any legacy he may or may not have is not going to be decided in his 20th professional fight. But a loss would cost him tens of millions over the next few years.Comment
