It DOES win you points making opponent miss.Defense is one of the 4 criteria for scoring a fight just as much as accuracy & ring generalship. 3 criteria canelo won & ggg just kinda won the middle rds with the 4th criteria of effective agression, though even this area was 50-50 since canelo made him miss 500 times.

Canelo 42% power punch accuracy 4 more landed, ggg had 32% landed, 50 more jabs but I'd argue that most those extra jabs came in rds he already won anyway,& when u miss 500 punches how many of those 50 extra jabs were weak & how many warnt counted because they were seen as hitting gloves or missing. When your missing so many punches, how easy is it for extra 50 jabs to be overlooked 4 reasons ive given.Canelo won in ring generalship department because he dictated the way ggg fought throughout the fight.

It was as close as a 50-50 fight as they come, similar to ward vs kov1,lara vs canelo, etc. when u rewatch the fight try to score it using the 4 criteria & not blindly give ggg rds just for ineffective aggression like how lederman or lampley did,& I think youll end up agreeing it was a justified draw if nothing else.Or either couldve won 7-5.

GGG is old he needs to wait until May to fight again. He's 35 not 25. If he tries to fight in December his body will take more damage then when May comes for the rematch he'll be softened up even more. He should recover and not risk losing that money fight.

I believe GBP/Canelo and team GGG had this all worked out. First 3 and last 3 rounds Canelo, 6middle rounds GGG
Then rematch in May with first 3 rounds & last 3 rounds GGG and Middle 6 rounds for Canelo. Then in Sept Canelo takes it leaving him to be the face of boxing and GBP can **** all boxing fans..
I can see into the future what do you guys think ? LOL!!

We'll see. As I said in another post. I am going to try my best to score it objectively because when I first started watching the fight on youtube I caught myself looking for excuses to give GGG rounds so I stopped watching by the 5th. Hopefully I can be a little more objective this time.

Still, that is how I score fights. I favor aggression. I think most people do which is probably why guys like Lara have a hard time winning close fights.

But we will find out within the next year.

            Yep, you nailed it.

I'm not only only telling myself j.

Every fighter I heard off thought GGG won, Thurman, JMM, Lewis, Malignaggi, Spence, Lara, Badou Jack, Crawford...the list goes on.

The only looking like farce at this point is Nelo and his gift cards.

i cant stand people who just give rounds to the aggressor who is moving forward all the time...you can win rounds and fights moving backwards if you do it right......

if it were just about who the aggressor is the stronger/tougher fighter would always win and we could prob just cancel the fights because we could probably tell who that is without an actual fight

i cringe watching lederman give his cards and just gives rounds to the guy moving forward....

People who say GGG never had Canelo hurt are either blind, full of horse **** , or just plain in denial. Go watch the fight again. I have repeatedly on the dvr and every time GGG connected with a hard jab or a right hook to Canelo. You can plainly see the “ouch and that effing hurt” look on his face so don’t even go there. Facial expression don’t lie folks. If it didn’t hurt Canelo, he wouldn’t have been back pedaling the 80% of the fight. I’ll give Canelo props for his flurries and combinations, but in the end they didn’t stop or back GGG up for more than a few seconds. That has to be a very disheartening feeling to any fighter.
As for a rematch, I’m not sure I really give a **** anymore. It would be nice, but I’d rather see GGG active than wait around and give Canelo the lions share of the deal. Even if GGG take a different route, who’s to say Canelo doesn’t lose ground with a loss to say a Charlo or some other top ranked fighter. But he’ll probably cherry pick someone’s leftovers like he has in his last several fights. GGG should walk away and unify with a BJS fight. There’s always an opportunity to rematch Canelo later.
