Andre Ward Fake 1 Year Mayweather-esque Retirement?

Mayweather recently highlighted the fact that his previous "retirements" were all part of a strategy to help maximize his revenue upon his return (although some would say they were to avoid certain fighters who were at their peak). Floyd said that this most recent retirement is the final one, it's real and no return is planned this time, although that remains to be seen.

Could Ward be doing a similar thing with this retirement announcement? If he takes 12 to 18 months out of the ring and lets the light heavyweight division play out, he might return in 2018 or 2019 to challenge the (ideally unified) world champion for possibly the highest payday of his career.

I hope so. It doesn't make much sense for someone who has accomplished as much as he has at age 33 to be taking "stay busy" fights and "tune-ups" for a fraction of what he made in the Kovalev fights. He fights these young, hungry lions and for what? 1-2 million dollars for Gvodsyk and Alvarez? Just not a smart business move..
