Ward retired an undefeated champion and you can't beat that.
As a fan I never enjoyed the way he had of turning every fight into a wrestling, mauling battle of attrition. I also thought he got away with a lot of illegal tactics.
Ward's final victory, although tarnished by poor officiating, was the fight of his life, so he leaves on a high note.

Froch being a cnut until the very end. Notice how Ward never mentioned Froch again after he whooped his arse but to this day Froch is still salty and always has something negative to say about Ward. It speaks volume about their respective positions in boxing. For Ward their fight was just another day at the office against an opponent like any other one.

Also the end of the article made me laugh "I retired on top", after beating Groves (haha), meanwhile Ward "retires on top", as the best fighter pound for pound after beating Kovalev and becoming the light heavyweight kingpin. Very similar ends of career indeed.

Boxing will miss Ward because he was a once-in-a-generation fighter.

you are right ward didnt speak about froch again even when froch wanted a rematch and was on top of the division. ward went ghost mode. once in a generation? please. his career was built up by networks and corrupt officials protecting him. super six setup in his favor and blantant cheating ignored, all fights at home. dawson was drain-o. robbed kovalev, then low blow ko'd him. i guess that is once in a generation but in a bad way. hopefully these kind of cheats dont come around often

Who needs a rematch for a one-sided fight? It would have made sense for Ward from a financial standpoint only, but as you know Ward was fighting for legacy, not for money (it's irony, relax). Ward was far too good for Froch, he was in a different league and you know it.

The rest of your post made me smile. Did he buy Olympics Games officials as well, or was it just luck that time?

Its not like he was an exciting fighter. He was more exciting outside the ring than inside. Good commentator though.

He is the saltiest mug around.. I saw a video of him in sky studio and when the reporter started talking highly of Ward, Froch pulled a face like he wanted to kill the reporter lol. He will forever be jealous of Ward, GGG and AJ.

he didnt take the fight because cheating doesnt travel and thats the only reason. money was right. opponent was right(#1 guy and someone he already beat) the only thing that stoped that fight from happening was ward not having control over everything like usual. and yes ward won the first fight but if you watch the second half of that fight he became the normal hugging ward that we know and love because froch was getting to him more and more. a fight with a ref who knows and enforces the rules would make it tough for ward to weather the storm agaisnt a guy who always came on strong late in fights.

well in one of his fights in the olympics he gets rocked badly and clinches for the rest of the fight and def should have been dq'd. why he wasn't i dont know why. he was fighting some unknown guy from uzbekistan so that prob had something to do with it. you are pretendign like his status didn't help him win fights/setup fights in his favor? thats the way boxing works unfortunately but we as fans should know that instead of pretending that guys who have the refs/judges in their pockets are superior. if they were they wouldnt need them but guys like ward do. a guy like errol spence doesnt but he will prob lose and not get as far because of it. it pays to be dirty
