At 168 he was supreme and beat all the top names cementing himself as the best but at 175 he was gifted a win over Kov in the first fight and had a very inept ref allow multiple punches to the balls to count as a tko via "body shots". Ward avoided the true king at Lt heavy Lord Adonis Stevenson. Why did Ward duck the king? Because Adonis is the hardest hitting champ outside of heavyweight and would sleep Ward inside 6 rounds. Sorry Andre you were great at 168 but you've shown how limited you are above that weight by ducking the Adonis.

His reason for retiring sounds valid to me. I don't think he is retiring to avoid Stevenson. He could continue to fight and just not fight Stevenson if he only wanted to avoid Stevenson. He fought Kovalev and most people rated Kovalev as even better than Stevenson.
