I am sure that is not the reason he retired. The reason he gave for retiring made sense and I believe him. Ward has never feared GGG and GGG has never feared Ward. They fight two weight classes apart and have never been rivals. Nobody including team GGG was even talking about GGG moving up 15 pounds to fight Ward so Ward didn't retire to avoid GGG.
