Hire former boxing champions as ring side judges?

They know where to look when a boxer is going for points.

nah.. because defensive former boxers will just give the rounds to the defensive guy and vice versa. it will be biased.

i think should make the judges leave a note after each round.

so after each round, they'll make their decision on how to score that round then they have to give a quick explanation as to why they score it for that fighter (landed more punches, etc).

so this way if (fighter a) was clearly getting out box and even got knocked down, the judges cant score it for (fighter a) because he/she will have to explain why they score it for that fighter. so he/she cant say (fighter a) landed more punches when in that round (fighter a) actually got knocked down and got out box.

No, a lot of them have bias. Imagine if Holyfield was a judge for May-Pac. I think he had Pac winning by a wide margin lol.

Could be bought in as a 4th judge in case it ends in a draw just like the SMW/Cruiser tournament.
Main difference being it officially stands on the Pros record, something which it doesn't do in this current tournament.
