It never counted against Floyd. He would go on the ropes, make the opponent miss, hit him with a counter, then get off the ropes. Just like Canelo did Saturday

You've really gotten it up the ass in this thread huh? Lol idiot

Which is why it is giving up 'ring generalship'. Since 'effective punches' landed is the primary criteria to judge a boxing bout before using any of the other criteria, the boxer who is giving up ring generalship must show without any doubt and indisputably that they are landing more effective punches (which Canelo Alvarez didn't). Otherwise, there is no way they can win that round (barring point deductions). If both boxers land equal amount of effective punches, then the one who is the ring general (spending more time closer to the center of the ring) is most likely to win the round than the one who isn't the ring general (the one who is spending most of the time furthest away from the center of the ring).

The boxer who is backing up and creating distance without actually throwing and landing punches is the one who is 'avoiding' the bout since if his opponent also responds by also backing up in the opposite direction, then what would happen? There won't be any boxing (hitting and not getting hit) since both guys have created so much distance between each other, to the point where neither can hit anybody. It then turns into a 'not hit and not get hit' instead of 'hit and don't get hit'. Thus, the boxer who is chasing his opponent that is backing up deserves more credit because of the fact that the 'boxing' exists, only because of him. Otherwise, there won't be any 'boxing' and there'll only be 'avoidance'.

Also in the second gif Canelo missed all those punches and ggg went back to moving forward.
                Pugilism 101 scoring criteria..

                Clean punching -

Effective aggressiveness - it has to be effective aggressiveness. If I just walk forward and follow you around the ring, I'm not doing much. If I move forward, cut the ring off and corner you so I can land, that's significant.

Defense - Picking off punches, moving your head, using your legs, all plays into it.

                Ring generalship

lol please dont compare mayweather on the ropes to canelo on the ropes. Mayweather would land crisp clean counters when he was there, canelo did jack****ing**** on them ropes for the majority of the time.

Looking forward to the rematch and for adjustments each make based off the first fight.
                      Should be a great fight.
