Yup, timing is everything! Ali vs. Holmes was not a legacy fight. Tyson vs. Holmes was not a legacy fight! Even Pacquiao vs. De La Hoya is questionable!

Cotton said he wants the best opponent for his finale. Com'on Cotto, show your balls. You might be able to go out a hero here.

I get your point, but I remember Ali v Holmes. It did sort of confirm the changing of the guard, but I remember how sad a night it was for everyone watching. Ali was so washed up that time that 'the Last Hurrah' turned into sickening spectacle of Ali being turned into a punchbag. The revelations that he had effectively failed a neurological exam 3 months before the fight, but the results had been buried, added to the disgust with the sport.

Not sure how that ended up adding to Holmes legacy, except the memory of him pleading for the ref to stop it in the 9th and Holmes crying his heart out in the dressing room afterwards.

Not all 'legacy' fights are a good idea.

I'm a huge Cotto fan so I hope he doesn't take the fight. Cotto is small for 154 and should actually be fighting at 147, but he hates to drain his body to the welterweight limit. GGG is a huge and strong middleweight; It'd be a total mismatch. I would hate to see Cotto go out with a beating like that.

Finally decided to register and post after reading for years. Full
Disclosure I like GGG and his style and I am not a fan of Alvarez.

That said. Both fighters fought a respectable fight and Canelo impressed me. I can see a draw but I give the edge to Golovkin at 7-5.

The Byrd card was a disgrace and to not have all judges get bing Golovkin Rd 7 is not better, just easier to overlook.

            Moving on.

K2 needs to get with it. Call out Saunders or answer his call and fight in December.
Fighting Cotto is money only and if there is no rematch from Golden Boy, move on and leave it behind.

Cotto means more money than Charlo or BJS so obviously Loeffler is interested as the business is his priority.

Legacy/MW history wise Cotto has been lineal champ at 160 beating Martinez.

              Not an absurd fight.

I have a feeling Cotto will fight GGG on December. GGG knows he will do a better job than Canelo if he fights Cotto and he will try to make a statement by beating Cotto. If Cotto ends up fighting GGG, I have to say he has some big cojones. I don't know how, but if this fight happens, I hope Cotto finds a way and beats GGG (I know this is almost impossible). But if he wins, and retires, he will become a legend (sort of).

More Canelo fans think GGG won than GGG fans. That's a fact!

                    Fun Fact:

Approximately 1 month after GGG's destruction of Lemiuex, Ward announces he cannot make 168 anymore and has to go up in weight.

His combinations and speed looked much better than GGG's in his last fight, and he also threw more punches, showing better stamina than he's ever shown. Cotto to me still looks in good form, it's just he was too small for Canelo, which yes, would be the issue with GGG. But given that GGG has declined, I don't think this is the complete destruction it would have been in the past. I see it a lot like the Brook fight.

But GGG is supposed to be getting that last belt off Saunders. If not December, when? Next Fall, after the Canelo rematch in May? Because if they wait all the way until September to do the rematch just to age GGG even more, I hope everyone here boycotts that PPV, because they have aged GGG long enough, it's complete bull****. I hope HBO and everyone puts pressure on Canelo to do the rematch no later than May at the very least.

Saunders in December. Canelo in May. 168 in December, before GGG is completely, utterly shot, and we never even get to see him vs the bigger guys. Sigh... **** they've messed up his career royally. Oscar, BHop, Loeffler, and Abel all suck.
There are some good points... but if it plays out like the Brook fight, well then, it is a complete destruction!

Also, I don't think Saunders takes this fight... He'll try to milk the belt a little longer; he looked like shat against Monroe who looked even more like shat... so...

I also think GGG will retire soon; his last interview about not liking boxing, it's a job, etc isn't reassuring regarding his future.
