Yeah it was a poor defence. Maybe he'll fight someone better next time.

I've never been impressed by Valuev.

I'll say this however, the punches he hit Beck with at the very end of the fight...being straight punches in bunches is how he should fight.

I think he'd benefit from dropping some extra weight and getting a bit leaner, and working on his straight punching combos.

They're quicker to the target than the clubbing punches he throws from the top down. He'd be a much more complete fighter, and you can't really critiscise him too hard.

He doesn't give you anything to awe at other than size, and he doesn't really suck so bad that you call him a Ruiz.

thanks for the fight, he wasn't bad at all, Beck would have been a good fight for him, maybe a year ago, but a very bad choice for a title defense. He doesn't expend that much energy so thats good considering how big he is. I'd like to see him in there with Brock or brewster. I think he'd lose both but, if he could beat either, it would be a good indicator of how good he really is.

BIG man....quicker than I was led to believe....and has a really good jab. Probably could drop about 30 or 40 LBs.

then again being so heavy in clinches is bound to be an advantage.

Even if he drops 30 or 40 he would still be at a dominant weight plus being in better shape.

Well, true; but if he were forced to fight at a faster pace than accustomed to for a few rounds, that weight would hurt him, IMO....and at 280, he'd still be the stronger man in the clinches.

Ettiene looked to have been having a good go at him. I think he'll be exposed when a decent fighter applies solid consistant pressure.
