"Will rest the rest of the year, return in may or september" - WTF

You must be dyslexic, because no where in my post did I say that.
I asked you if you want Canelo vs GGG II in 2-3 months from now, where they have to rest, negotiate, promote and train all in that time frame?
If you can't read don't call me ******ed, just read slower.Comment

What type ****** backwards logic is this?
Why the F not? k2 has already announced GGG is fighting in december. .... So why shouldn't it be GGG V Canelo in december? This rematch doesn't need promotion, the first fight was all the promotion that part 2 needs ....Comment

Gotta let that rematch marinate for a few years. It's great business!

At the top level, a 2-3 week break before going back into the gym for a hard 10-12 week camp seems to be the new pace.
Fight January 1, rest, start camp January 20, fight at the end of March, rest, start camp mid-April, fight in early July, rest, start camp end of July, fight in mid-October, rest, start camp in early November, fight again mid January.
With hardly any time to enjoy life really, a top-level fighter could tickover 4 times a year if they wanted to push it (and didn't sustain any injuries/cuts/damage that would inherently extend the time before the next camp starts).
The human body can't simply take a beating every month and not need the down time.
If he wants to take off the year, so be it; just look at what not taking any time off between fights had done to guys like Francisco Vargas, Orlando Salido, etc.Comment

... Two months to rest, and then a fight camp to prepare gets you to the fight being as soon as February/March (and that's before you deal with the logistics of staging the event).November?? YDKSAB if you think they're going back in the gym tomorrow for a rematch in 2 months.
Otherwise, I agree with the sentiment. I think 2 months to rest and then back at 'er for a rematch in Jan or Feb is ideal. Unfortunately, that rarely happens in boxing because it's more biz driven than sport driven.Comment
