I totally agree! I expected more from Canelo Alvarez. With all the arguments made about him being such a exuberant offensive boxer with such a versatile offense consisting of combinations, body punches and etc. In the end, Canelo was limited to only landing the odd single punch or two of every minute of every round. Canelo barely ever landed more than a single punch in rapid succession. Even with body punches, either Golovkin wasn't fazed by Canelo's body punches at all or he neutralized the effectiveness of the body punches.
With the exception of Floyd Mayweather Jr and Erislandy Lara, one would be very hard pressed to find too many boxers who neutralized Canelo Alvarez's offense to the same extent as Golovkin did. Especially Canelo's counter punches. Golovkin more or less put on a masterclass display in defense against Canelo's main offensive strategies. The fact that he was able to neutralize Canelo's counter punching better than nearly any of his past opponents along with his other offensive moves actually proves that GGG isn't this limited boxer that some claim him to be. It actually proves that Golovkin has top level boxing skills.Comment

1. Canelo does have a slippery defense, much like maidana.. seems like easy target but very hard to hit flush.
2.. ggg is past his expiration date.. totally reminds me of hagler vs mugabi and Leonard.. reflexes and pulling the trigger just a tad slowComment

... my guess is they played safe with a view to a possible rematch... staying at a safe distance, taking no big risks, not digging to the body etc... more like an exhibition...
... both fighters didn't keep their word -- looking for the KO... I guess they both wanted the possible rematch in their back pocket... Even if Canelo may very well scrap such a rematch...Comment
