I thought Canelo won last night and he'll only do better in a rematch- and that won't matter if they fight next year or next week.

Canelo is one of the most ring savvy fighters I have ever seen.

    He learns from every fight.

And he will have new stuff for the next one no matter who he fights.
Please don't assume nothing and put words in my mouth. If you have any doubts or are unsure quote me and ask. The reason why i want it in January is because all this fight 8 months down the line is bullshh. Neither of these guys took the kind of damage where we need to wait 8 months for a rematch. I want that title taken from Saunders plain and simple and would've been calling on Canelo to fight Saunders in January too had he won last night. I don't agree with catering big fight only to a certain regions day of revelry. Didn't care for it when Floyd did it, don't care for it now.

I disagree with the big fight months being May and September. Plenty of big fights have happened outside of that. I think we need to stop letting what Floyd did dictate what the sport is today. July 4th is also a big holiday, a huge holiday in fact and could very well handle fights then as well. Those two mexican holidays are great for fights but they should not be the only time we get mega fights. A good match up will do well any time of the year. Personally I would prefer a rematch to have all the belts on the line whether golovkin or canelo has Saunders strap or hell even Jacobs. I would love to see that belt get ripped from Saunders. Could I live without these two fighting again? Yes, hell Canelo isn't committing to one so i'm not going to work myself up expecting it.

        Not unusual.

He has fought twice a year the last 6 years, 4 of those 6 years in May and 4 of those 6 years in September.

But, you can see whatever you like in it...

Why would a guy who usually fights in May and September want a January fight?

And, I am sure Saunders will wait til May for a Canelo fight if the choice is between that or a December/January fight with Golovkin.

That wasn't Floyd. That was the Mexican backbone of the sport in the US driving big fight dates. Oscar was the first guy that got me realizing Cinco De Mayo was even a thing at all so this ain't got sh^t to do with Floyd, Floyd just hijacked the idea.

And I don't think its in boxing's control so much cuz its about when other sports are in play too. I do think November used to be in play more then it these days, but idk why that changed. But like it or not May & September are when you wanna plan fights in the US if a Mexican fighter is involved WITHOUT QUESTION & this fight happens to have that variable in play so it'll be in May or September.

When has July 4th been a big boxing fight date? The most recent PPV I see with that date is Pacquaio vs Larios (2006) & this was when Manny wasn't Manny yet & selling GGG PPV-like numbers.

I know way way back in the Jack Dempsey days that used to be a big fight date, but I don't think its every really been one in "our era" of boxing.

I'm just pointing out that limiting megafights to mexican holidays is not mandatory. Didn't mean to insinuate that its been a big holiday for fights but its a potential day for it.

I stated if Canelo had won I would've wanted that, he didn't and he isn't committing to a rematch right now so Saunders in January makes sense either here or in the Uk for 2018. Both fought on the same date just now, a month's rest, which leaves them a few weeks for marketing and then 2 to 2 1/2 months for a camp for a January showdown. For one thing neither Golovkin or Saunders do well with long layoffs and with a fighter that is not commited to a rematch it makes sense to me.
