I'm rewatching it right now. Extremely close going into the championship rounds. Canelo was throwing the combos while GGG was pressuring. However, even though he was pressure he wasn't landing extremely clean. Even when Canelo was on the ropes GGG didn't land much and wasn't eager to throw much.

If it weren't for the moments he was regaining his breath on the ropes (GGG still couldn't do anything significant) these people wouldn't be deceived into thinking GGG accomplished much.
