If a punch doesn't have enough power to penetrate someone's chin, then it can't really be considered sufficiently 'hard' and 'effective'.Comment

Of course you do. It means your opponent has nothing to throw at you to make you back up.
And why was Canelo stopped in his tracks and backing away from GGG's jabs for most of the fight?Comment

You're seriously ******ed if you think a fighter gets points for getting hit clean because they didn't rock/wobble the fighter.

Exactly! The main criteria for boxing is effective punches landed and the effectiveness of a punch is determined by how much effect the punch has on the opponent. So if a landed punch doesn't discourage the opponent at all and if the opponent is still able to come forward, then that punch wasn't effective enough in the first place. Otherwise, it would've discourage the boxer.
This was the case with GGG. GGG's punches were more effective more frequently because he was forcing Canelo Alvarez to back up more frequently than vice versa.Comment

Those early rounds I was definitely impressed how Canelo countered him and landing those body shots. He even body a lot of the left hooks that GGG usually land on other and even when all the ropes he only got caught with one out of like 6 punches that GGG threw at him. This was a great fight and both fighters deserve credit regardless of the outcome.Comment

I can't believe what i'm seeing. "Boxing fans" thinking a fighter gets points for getting hit if it doesn't hurt them.

I am ******ed? Haha.
How about this fun fact? GGG's jabs made Canelo run backwards, but Canelo's best right hander couldn't stop GGG from coming forward. Oh yeah Canelo was so ****ing effective!Comment

Every time Canelo landed Golovkin backed the **** up. Golovkin refusing to throw when Canelo was on the ropes was because Canelo's punches didn't hurt?
