GGG's punches were forcing / snapping Canelo Alvarez's head and body backwards more often than vice versa. Whereas GGG was more frequently walking through Canelo's punches. So that alone debunks the notion that Canelo was 'lighting up' GGG or looked 'the heavier handed or stronger' of the two. A totally unfounded speculation.
The so called 'hardest hitter' forced Canelo Alvarez to fight in an uncharacteristic manner, which was on the back foot whilst severely limiting his offense. So if anything, that actually proves GGG did in fact hurt Canelo otherwise why would Canelo be that passive and that easily be pushed backwards for the whole night?
Canelo didn't show he was the better fighter. He got exposed when his counter punches were easily neutralized by Golovkin's brilliant control of range, footwork and evasive movements. After that, he failed to devise any new strategy to be more effective. On the other hand, GGG more consistently landed more effective punches.
Why is to be so impressed by the fact that an ABSOLUTE peak version of Canelo Alvarez, at age 27 had inferior fitness, stamina and effectiveness compared to a 35 year old Golovkin who is clearly past his best? If anything, that is shameful and embarrassing for Canelo Alvarez. The fact that a 35 year old showed better energy levels and intensity than himself.
