He's just fighting better opposition is all. That's what happens when you aren't fighting literal punching bags.

Canelo was faster, stronger, more accurate, more diverse, and generally a better fighter except for boxing IQ. He was inconsistent and allowed Golovkin to get momentum. I don't know if that would change in a rematch. It's like Tommy Hearns. Doesn't matter how good you are if you make bad decisions.

I don't know it wasn't out of necessity. I'm of the opinion he had to take breaks or he wouldn't have made it to the end of the fight. He's always had to do that, even vs subpar opposition.
