A lightweight Sugar Ray Robinson might have had an edge over Floyd Mayweather when it came to power, and might have been his equal when it came to speed, but he was not Mayweather's equal defensively. Robinson took a lot of punches and was no defensive genius of the Willie Pep, Pernell Whitaker, Floyd Mayweather kind.
yea I disagree with the notion that Robinson would simply outwork/overwhelm Mayweather
not saying that Robinson couldn't beat Mayweather
Floyd was a damaging puncher in the lighter weights..... and he still had that almost impenetrable defence, and he still had that amazing skillset
I would have to favor SRR, because he beat better opponents than Floyd did..... but Mayweather would be right in that fight
watching old footage, Robinson seemed way ahead of his timeComment

Mental gymnastics at its finest. Pac ducked Mayweather for years because of Arum & peds,I still think he had the skillset to possibly make it close vs may when pac was in his prime or at least make it a better fight by emulating castillo, but I have to question how much peds would've been responsible,& roach wouldn't be able to gameplan it right anyways so hed still lose. Mayweather was too fast & skilled with too much defense & too big 4 that tiny Pinoy ****.Last edited by kushking; 09-16-2017, 08:35 PM.Comment

Camacho was in his prime when Chavez beat him. They both started around the same time and Camacho still fought for many years after that fight.Comment

its better for boxing if canelo wins. he has at least 15 more years in him. ggg is gonna fade out in another 3-5 years. he was usually fighting 3-4 times a year then finally steps up competition once and now he needs a year off lol. canelo has consistently faced the best and has sacrificed to make big fights happen. him winning does more for the sport.
I'd still rather see Golovkin "fade out" in the next "3-5 years" than a lifetime of Canelo's handpicked fightsComment
