Comments Thread For: Sanchez Hopes Canelo Stands Up Between Rounds Against Golovkin

LAS VEGAS Abel Sanchez doesn't just want Canelo Alvarez to stand in the center of the ring against Gennady Golovkin. The middleweight champion's trainer also wants Alvarez to stand between rounds during their scheduled 12-round title fight Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena. Sanchez was perplexed when Alvarez avoided sitting down between rounds throughout his domination of Mexican rival Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on May 6 at T-Mobile Arena.

Shoot, I'd be willing to bet she doesn't do that for this fight. After GGG gets to that body, the diva will be begging the ref to extend the corner minute to a full round so she can recover, lol.

Ask Canelo if he was playing psychological games and he's like to respond 'no entiendo, de que hablas ?'.

JCC was simply a test for him to see how he could carry 160+ pounds for 12, and standing was just part of the test.

He won't be treating Golovkin like a test run. He'll sit down this time Abel......

Sanchez should hope that GGG can take Canelo´s uppercut series which he can easily throw at each moment when GGG stands infront of him. GGG was stunned by Brook´s punches but Canelo hits way harder.

Exactly. Canelo just wanted to go 12 rounds on purpose in his last fight. You could see in that fight that Canelo wasn't keen to stop Chavez Jr.

It was. ODLH knew that Candelita had damaged her image very badly by running from GGG for the past 2 years. One way to gain some of them back and help instill some confidence in Candelita is to have her fight a minimum risk fight against a bigger opponent who is also the son of a Mexican legend.

When you think of it, what other opportunities were in store for JCCJ in terms of big money fights? Nothing, zilch. So when ODLH approaches him about the fight, one of the stipulations is that he doesn't upset the apple cart too much because this fight is basically to drum up viewership for the GGG-Candelita fight. "We'll guarantee you this big payday but you can't be the winner. If you are good with that, then we have a deal."

JCCJ threw hardly any punches during the fight for a reason and it wasn't because he was so drained he couldn't throw a punch. It was because he didn't want to risk hurting the diva and not getting paid the full amount.

Oscar knew that Candelita didn't have the confidence to face GGG without a win against a bigger guy. Even with the win, they still had to pack on all of this muscle to give the diva a mental confidence builder.

Candelita better hope that GGG doesn't hit her with the same shots that she was letting Smith tee off on her with because GGG hits MUCH harder than Smith does.

Why is it such a big deal when Canelo does it? I've seen a handful of fighters doing that before
