Golovkin would have straight up murdered every Canelo opponent from the last three years. I think the gap in quality, in that period at least, has been minimal. Golovkin easily stops Chavez Jr, Khan, Smith, Kirkland, and Cotto.

Other interesting bit, which I kind of knew already but hadn't thought about too much, was their reaction to being hit. Canelo goes into fight mode, while Golovkin steps back, covers, and re-sets (with a nod of his head in there). Anyway, not sure how that affects things except a feeling that Canelo's instinct to exchange might not be a good thing, especially if he's hurt and would be better off clinching. However, I have seen him clinch a bit more recently to shut down an opponents assault, so I think that part of his game has developed and improved, and it could be useful to him in this fight at times.

“I think he’s going to wear him down,” said Crawford to Thaboxingvoice about Golovkin wearing Canelo down. “Triple G is going to throw short shots, crisp from the shoulders. Both of them are big dangerous punchers, but I just think Triple G is the bigger puncher in this fight, and Canelo is moving up in weight. I think he’ll stop him late,” said Crawford in predicting a knockout win for Golovkin.

Jeez man I'm getting sick of these supposed knowledgeable boxing writers, trainers, fighters, fans etc saying Canelo has more boxing skills than GGG. Yes he has flashy combos but GGGs boxing IQ is better imo, you'll all see tonight, GGG is not just a power puncher. You don't have the amateur record he has without having boxing skills.
I'm frankly amazed that so many people think Canelo is the better boxer.

'Style: Canelo is the more versatile and busier of the two'.
Peter, have a look at the per-round punch output from both over the last few years and see if it supports that Canelo is busier.....
Canelo's footwork is slicker and bouncier but, again, to label this as a fleet-footed versus a flat-footed fighter will be a gross overgeneralization;
Canelo fleet footed ? Slicker ? This has long been identified as one of Canelo's biggest weaknesses, that he doesn't have the type of footwork to cut the ring off and command distance that he needed with Lara/Trout. If anything it should be clarifying that its Canelo who isn't flat-footed, as he does have some good foot movement in and around the pocket, but not the lateral to cut the ring off and the walking down which Golovkin does without thinking. At times, Golovkin decides to simply stop moving his feet completely (Brook, Monroe) - why he does this is anyone's guess: laziness, ****yness, cuz-he-can, who knows why - but to look at any of those times and think that that's the version that will show up vs Canelo at any point is just wrong (unless he decides Canelo's got nothing, in which case its game over for Canelo anyway).
Level of opposition: Here again, Canelo has the edge, but the gap might be narrowed given Triple G's stellar amateur career.
Canelo has the edge ? Do you mean Trout/Mayweather/Lara ? They are the only prime A listers Canelo has fought. How did he do in those fights ? When did those fights happen ? Trout/Lara better oppo than Jacobs/Lemoo ? But weren't two of these fights in the last 2 years, while the other two were 3 or more years ago? Canelo's level of opposition is impressive until you look closely.......

Reality, that you clearly know as do many others, is that you have two top-notch skill sets going up against each other, neither of which is easily classified.
Canelo has the edge in some areas, most notably his head and body movement that comes into play avoiding punches, also his hand-speed and combination punching, that when combined with good head and body movement, make it easy to classify him as having better boxing skills. Sometimes the speed and fluidity of movement is a beauty to watch.
Golovkin has the edge in foot movement and positioning that enables him to be applying pressure at all times in fights. So where Lara/Trout can spin out and leave Canelo the other side of the ring, if they do that with Golovkin, they find themselves in a place where he's still right in front of them - pressure, pressure, pressure - just listen to any of Golovkin's past opponents.
Then there is the jab. Listen to Teddy Atlas whenever he starts talking about the jab - he can't stop gushing about how its the most important punch in the fight and how it sets everything else up (he's the jab's No. 1 fan I think). Golovkin has one of the best jabs in the business while Canelo's is almost absent, yet is this not a 'boxing skill' ? (tell Teddy its not, then take cover lol)

You mean tell me Jacobs is better than Floyd??? Floyd got rated best boxer of the last 25 years! Damn your ******!
Lemuix LOST to Alcine and Rubio.
Jacobs got DROPPED by a guy who has less power than even Paulie.
This is the DUMBEST comment I read so far this week.
I always KNEW GGG had the DUMBEST fans. *** everyone he fights you clowns hype up. I remember House Arrest Wade how bad you hyped him up. AND WE ALL laughed AT YOU.
Yes Mayweather is best fighter either has fought, but if you think he is beating the 180lb Danny Jacobs in anything other than a fantasy P4P matchup then you are crazy.
