They weren't even complaining about Rigo. Loma asked if Rigo holds he puts the head to the body and try and break the clinch and ref said no which is bs it isn't illegal. Loma does that every fight when someone holds and if the ref said no i don't think Loma will stop that.

It's not so much explaining the rules, it's more the ref explaining what he is looking for, and will take points for on a personal level - where the cutoff for a low blow is, etc. Each ref has his own pet peeves, some are more lenient than others, and so on and so forth.

I always thought it was more of like a friendly reminder of a few of the bigger rules and like a nice introduction for the ref and the fighters who are about to share the ring for the fight.

But it is a nice tradition that I enjoy.
