Comments Thread For: Canelo's Trainer: Canelo will only gain 7, 8 pounds on fight night

MGM Grand, LAS VEGAS, NV - Canelo Alvarez had a weight advantage over most of his opponents when he fought at 154 and 155 pounds. That trend ended in his last fight when he faced them he bigger Julio Cesar Chavez at a catchweight of 164.5-pounds. Alvarez pitched a shutout in the fight as Chavez wasn't able to win a single round.

Canelo usually comes in over 170 doesn't he? How would he rehydrate to a lower weight than normal after moving up?

          Brook > Khan
          Lemieux > Smith, Khan, Kirkland
          Lemieux 160 > Cotto 153
Jacobs > Chavez Jr , Khan, Kirkland, Smith

          Jacobs 180 fight night >
          Cotto 165 fight night.

Jacobs was younger, bigger, fresher, and faster than the Cotto Canelo fought.

I believe GGG has had the tougher opponents in past few years.
          My Logic says
          GGG>Canelo
Plus if Canelo wins you think he will fight Jacobs or Charlo

Remember what happened to Chocolatito when he went up in weight. Canelo might get Chocolatitoed.

Why don't the networks just force everyone to step on one last scale two to three hours before a fight? Would kill all of this speculation.

Canelo will be approximately 10 pounds smaller than his normal weight?? What?? This is why boxing has s bad rep. Ppl can say outrageous lies to our face and not get questioned.

Agreed. They are contracted to fight on HBO PPV. HBO promotes them with faceoffs and stuff like that. HBO should just make it standard in their contracts. It's incompetent and makes it so that in a sport with weight classes, fans don't even know the weight of the fighters they are watching. Weight is what the entire sport of boxing is structured around, but you're not going to tell fans how much the people in the ring fighting weigh? It's insane.

aww people don't understand nutrition. you posters need to get in the gym and weigh daily, and eat. weigh and see what happens.

weigh 3 times a day youll start to get it.

nobody knows that you can literally eat and lose weight. the body is amazing when youre active.

if he ever did weigh 170+ atleast 5 pounds was food and water in his gut.
