MGM Grand, LAS VEGAS, NV -The last time we saw Gennady Golovkin in the ring he went 12 round for the first time in his career against former middleweight champion Danny Jacobs. Golovkin won a razor thin decision at Madison Square Garden in New York and retained his WBC/WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight belts.

With the exception of Chavez I can't recall Alvarez fighting anyone who was naturally his size. So when Alvarez put on weight for actual fights he was definitely at an advantage. This time is different as Triple G is naturally as big as Alvarez, has far superior skills than Chavez, is a very powerful puncher and has underrated boxing skills. Instead of everyone saying that "we will see Triple G exposed" they may well see Alvarez exposed.

Let's hope this isn't bad judgement like they had for the Mayweather catchweight, they completely fked that one up. I want a fight free of excuses when the final results are in. The last thing this site needs is idiots waging war with excuses.

something no one has commented is that once again the weighin time has changed and they will be doing it 2 or 3 hours earlier due to a concert taking place on the mgm grand that night, i think it will be at 1pm central .. so thats a lot of time between the regular weighin and the ibf second day weighin, there is a chance we see the same thing as in the jacobs fight, who knows..

Catchweight had nothing to do with that fight. the fight could've been contracted at 175, he still would've lost. Skills pay the bills and Floyd skill level was light years above Canelo.

With that being said, Canelo has more skills than GGG does, so I expect him to win, regardless of what their weight is on fight night.

The only danger in Canelo coming in heavy on fight night is that he might be able to better absorb Golovkin's punches and take the fight to the scorecards where he would be favored in. Even then I don't see how Canelo will withstand Golovkin's onslaught. People say that in his bout with Chavez Jr, Canelo demonstrated that he can neutralize a bigger foe but Chavez Jr. was drained. Canelo could have been hitting a punching all night long but it doesn't take away from the fact that he couldn't take out let alone knock down a skeleton at 164.5. Golovkin is a full fledged middleweight and had his toughest challenge in Jacobs another full-fledged middleweight who's ranked number 2 in his division.

GGG has been waiting for this opportunity all his life and it took five years since his American debut to finally get the opportunity against a big name. He's not going to let the opportunity go to waste, too much is at stake. One thing is for sure, this is going to be an exciting fight.

Dude I think you either missed my point or I wasn't clear enough. They mismanaged his weight loss, never did I say or intend to give any indication that it would've changed the outcome. Canelo and his team fked up that weight loss strategy, he looked like he dropped all/most of that weight in the final two weeks instead of gradually. With that being said they dont' have the best track record at managing what's best for his performance in that sense.

Regarding the more skills thing I will disagree with you but not looking to get into a back and forth about it either.
