    >>> My take on de la Hoya's strategy for moving up the weigh in...

...Alvarez is gonna skip the IBF second weigh in. Bumlovkin will have to make weight 4 hours earlier than normal while not re-hydrating over the IBF mandatory 170lb second weigh in limit. Alvarez, OTOH, will be free to re-hydrate as much as he wants.

de la Hoya is trying to weaken Bumlovkin as much as possible. They've taken a page out of Jacobs' playbook and added a chapter. Smart move on Team Canelo's part..

NSAC has been wanting to move weigh-ins to an earlier time for a while. They started with UFC cards last year. They weigh the fighter behind closed doors and then have a fake weigh-in presentation in the afternoon.

I think people are overthinking the weight element to this fight. This fight will have little to do with weight & it certainly won't be won or lost on weight nor will weight be a strong reason for whoever wins or loses.

4 hours is nothing and GG doesn't hydrate much past 170 anyway. Overthinking is right. The outcome is all down to the jab. Not the weight. I guarantee you that.

I question this. Jacobs made good use of the IBF weigh-in for Golovkin. Looks like GoldenBoy will take a similar approach. They want to let Canelo beef up maximally while forcing Golovkin to meet a tougher standard.

            Solid plan.

Another reason why I think Canelo will win by close, controversial decision. Game the system. Get everything on your side.

Nobody is forcing Golovkin to do anything. If he chooses to follow the IBF rules that's his decision. He has the choice just like Canelo has the choice.

Ya, their can be no excuses from any fighter in this one.
This is the fight we wanted, the weight has been agreed upon and everything is set up nicely for a good nights fight.

I don't think weight will really come into it here

I think GGG been following this IBF second weigh in rule for a long time now without problems. I don't think it will pose a problem this time around.
