Canelo: “But there I can say that what won [the fight for Mayweather] was the experience. But I learned a lot from that fight. So I don’t take it today as a defeat. I take it as an experience. I learned a lot from that fight.”

... I don't know what he learned from the Floyd fight as he didn't show a lot in the Lara fight...

I have to agree. This is the sort of win that would solidify his career and his legacy. He's a genuine underdog in this bout and that says a lot about him if he comes out victorious.

He's right. He's been accused of ducking GGG for two years and now it's time to fight him and has no excuses.

So what he lost a wide UD to Floyd, pretty much everyone does. He won't be judged on that.

Straight groupie and I have Canelo winning this fight pretty handily but yeah.
That guy can't be older than 14 and I have Canelo winning also. I don't even like to respond to clowns like that.

The Golovkin fight is the biggest risk of Canelo's career.

Going into the Mayweather fight, everyone could see there was still a solid upside even in defeat for Canelo. He was very young, getting paid handsomely, getting top tier experience, and there wasn't much risk of getting stopped by Floyd or taking any career altering damage.

Golovkin poses a much greater threat physically, and the monetary reward will obviously be less than the Floyd fight. But this is a fight where Canelo can make a real mark. He's fought a lot of welterweights in the Jr. MW division. A win over Golovkin Saturday is a different thing entirely. I personally will look at Canelo very differently if he beats Golovkin. It would be a huge W.
