Comments Thread For: Mayweather Sr: Canelo Can Stop GGG - If He Goes To The Body

FLOYD MAYWEATHER believes Saul Canelo' Alvarez can stop Gennady Golovkin by going to the body. The retired pound-for-pound great has given his former rival advice ahead of the mammoth middleweight showdown this weekend. Alvarez faces WBA, IBF, IBO and WBC champion Golovkin at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

As a GGG fan I also think so. GGG doesn't like to get hit to the body. He becomes passive after each body punches landed to him. GGG should fight like against Lemieux. Otherwise Canelo will land tons of body shots and uppercuts.

wheres this 'ggg doesnt like it to body' stuff come from all of a sudden? Let me guess, kovalev didnt like it to the body, golovkins european too, so golovkin doesnt like it to the body either, sound logic there...

              Watch the Jacobs' fight.

Dude would eat clean straight shots to the face, via jab or when Jacob was in southpaw with the left hand.

But none of that really had him psychologically and physically bending.

Jacob finds him to the body sometimes and naturally he takes a step back or whatever.

Jacob's feints to the body -- dude is straight up in a ball. Elbows to the knees type reaction and timid.

So I figure he has issues with body shots. But I mean it doesn't matter. Canelo doesn't have the reach or foot work to even position himself to get to GGG's body whatsoever.

Like I said before, GGG isn't Lara flicking a lazy jab to set up his back hand. He isn't a Cotto with T-rex jabs. And he's not a Joessito Lopez. Getting to GGG's body is going to be proved as challenging as reaching Mayweather's body imo (different styles I know)

People keep talking about punches to GGG's body.... last time I checked, he's never gone down in a fight from a body shot. The dude with the sparring story said he dropped ggg in a session, then proceeded to say the GGG beat him so badly for two days subsequently that he had to leave camp.

GGG is the one who destroys people with body shots. He'll be crushing that liver with lefts early. He'll be the one doing the serious bodywork.

Sure go to the body and leave the head wide open. Im sure ggg will take the trade off. Besides canelo is the one bulking up and dehydrating those muscles we'll see who can take the body work
