Comments Thread For: Sanchez: Money for Canelo Fight Not Worth Harm to Chavez's Legacy

LAS VEGAS Abel Sanchez suspects Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fought Canelo Alvarez for all the wrong reasons. Gennady Golovkin's trainer feels Chavez's multimillion-dollar purse wasn't worth all the damage done to his legacy by his poor performance against his Mexican rival. Sanchez, a Mexican-American, figures it too so much out of Chavez to make the 164-pound catch weight for their 12-round fight May 6 in Las Vegas that he had nothing left physically once he entered the ring to fight Alvarez at T-Mobile Arena.

Chavez jr has a legacy? If you consider being known as a lazy uninspired pot head a legacy, then sure.

Has there been a bigger catchweight king than Canelo?

Right? Dude was a 1 division champ with a belt that was stripped from Martinez to be pretty much handed to him. If he didnt have his last name he never would have made it that far.

I agree Chavez Jr suffered a lot after that performance. He never should have taken that fight at that weight. Even then it feels like he just fought for money. That was a sad performance to say the least.

Not to ve terrible, but what legacy? He's not his dad and never was regarded as highly as his dad. With that being said, Sanchez does have a point. At some point, fights come down to having basic respect for yourself and the sport. Chavez got dogged and punked in the ring. No matter what your legacy is or isn't, it never helps you to be embarrassed and show no fight in a combat sport.

The same clowns saying jr was weight drained are the same ******s who slurp ggg for supposedly fighting a hw & Canelo (whos by gggs/sanchez own admission much smaller @ 5'9") met him at 164.5 while ggg claimed he wanted to cw ward @ 164, then after bītching out entirely without negotiating he claimed he didn't say he wanted Ward at cw,despite every outlet qouting him. He tried to fight 51 yr old Bhop at 168.

All you gggroupies contradict yourselves regularly like your idol. Ggg still hasnt moved 1 lb to help his ww opponents but u clowns cry canelo cw kahn at 155 & slurp ggg 4 fighting brook at 160,rosado at 160 etc. When ggg fights someone @ 160 who slightly taller hes fighting a hw,when canelo fights an actual lhw at 164.5 hes draining them. Golovtards bītches.
