Hello Robbie, glad to see I'm still featured in your sig. How's that working out for ya?

I am simply trying to figure out what standards and rules are set in Boxing for a referee to decide on a belt line level, because it seems random as hell.

All of you up in arms with the memes and jokes claiming how Kovalev's trunks were soooooo high. Please tell me what this here is? Why is so quiet?

This is totally withing Boxing rules, right? But Kovalev had his too high?

Both are 5'3" but Chocolatito gets that extra special treatment...

He just didn't want to award it to Roman Rungvisai by mistake.

If fighters were butt naked and fought where would the punches be considered low? Serious question!

Yea but the 1st is clearly high according to some, certainly those who claimed Kova's were. Or maybe Chocolatito was taking precautions because Ward was ringside on the commentary team...

Yes he did. In the second round he was crying about a borderline low blow already looking for help from the ref

protectors fit different guys differently. some ride up. it's not like you can just move them down several inches in the ring. the cup would move, too, not just the belt line. you'd need to get them into different gear.

referees are supposed to know where the belly button is on a fighter, and call anything below it low. it's not an exact science at all. they usually use the beltline. hitting the top is considered borderline, hitting the bottom of the beltline is usually considered low but usually won't get you penalized. hitting below the beltline should get a warning and if a fighter needs it, he shoudlbe given up to 5 minutes to recover.

trunks had nothing to do with chocolatito losing. he hit a wall after damn near 50 fights and a decade as a champion.

Oh I fully agree that trunks had nothing to do with his loss, Choco got smashed by shots to the face.

It's just that every fight it seems that the "belt line" is set to different levels.
