Comments Thread For: Sanchez: Canelo Body Attack Successful With Lesser Competition

Question: Canelo has a pretty good body attack, as Gennady does. How do you fight a guy that can hurt you the same way Gennady hurt opponents? Do you see any similarities between Gennady and Canelo? What's the biggest difference between Gennady and Canelo and what is it that Gennady does better than Canelo?

Body shots mean Canelo will be range of GGG power shots! Canelo needs to be able to find a way to out jab GGG which will be hard for him to do! If GGG looks as he did against Jacobs, Canelo can come away with the decision but If GGG does what he did against Lemieux, it will be a long night for Canelo.

Gennady is vulnerable to combination punching/uppercuts

both Brook and Jacobs had success with standard combinations

also, Golovkin's counters were often sluggish/predictable

he had no respect whatsoever for Kell Brook, but Golovkin was sloppy at times in those early rounds

he won't be able to do any of that shht with Canelo

that fight will not be the war that some are thinking, but it should be a good fight

I was thinking the same thing.

It's Golovkin who has fought the lesser competition for the most part.

I don't know about stopped but he has certainly showed a successful body attack against Trout, Lara, and Cotto to name a few.

I'm a GGG fan so I might be biased here but aside from Mayweather he hasn't fought anyone better than Jacobs. Cotto was past his prime and it felt like Canelo should have knocked him out but didn't. Canelo has always been able to bully the smaller guy (yes, GGG too) so it will be interesting to see how Canelo reacts to someone who can take his punch and punch harder than anyone he's faced.

                  Chavez - lazy
                  Liam - small
                  Khan - super small
                  Cotto - past prime
Kirkland - no wolf and 15 month inactivity

Kirkland might be the biggest puncher he's faced and I think he actually stunned Canelo once.

Canelo folded Liam Smith with righteous combos that would haunt Josesito Lopez. Nelo did some weird over and side combos on a bigger Liam vs an 8punch combo on Lopez straight down the pipe on his forearms.

I assume a full 160 Nelo has enough firepower or armor to ATLEAST absorb shots that even Stevens took from a younger Gennady. How long did it take for Stevens to break? Rounds?
