Pro Canelo, huh? You hear all those boo's at the end reigning down on the Mexican from the mouths of Mexicans? You're just a typical clueless NSB blowhard. You are re tarded if you think GGG will have more fans then Canelo on Mexican Independence day in Vegas. If GGG has more Mexican fans then Canelo he wouldn't be doing 100K in PPVs. Let me clear up the mystery for you Canelo has more fans a lot more and that building will be a pro Canelo crowd. I remember folks saying the same thing about Chavez, that he would have more fans in their fight, and he's actually Mexican. Nope that building was Pro Canelo just like sat will be.Comment

Call a spade a spade...He said he fights Mexican style. He never said "I've got Mexican in my blood" and he never calls himself lil'G. You insist on calling him lil G as if calling him that makes him less of a fighter and a champion. You can type GGG quicker than lil'g so why not show him the respect of calling him the name he wants to be called by instead of calling him the insulting name Ward called him? You make an intelligent statement and then ruin it by calling him lil' G and quote him saying something he never said.Comment

He doesn't mean he wants to be Mexican racially. It's a compliment to the rich boxing history of Mexico, the aggressive style and the fighters they've produced. They were probably his heroes when he was growing up. Who doesn't want to emulate great Mexican fighters? STFU hatersComment

"This is more than a fight. It's a real Mexican fight. Abel brings a Mexican style to me. I love fighting Mexican style. I love Mexican food and eat it every day. I love the Mexican tradition. I am surrounded by it. I have many Mexican friends. I have Mexican blood." -Lil'GHe doesn't mean he wants to be Mexican racially. "I'm just wanted to tell Abel, that I, Chepo Reynoso...say that Canelo has style, heart, and he's Mexican." -Reynoso

What, like this dude here?GGG is just referencing the respect and admiration for Mexican boxing which caused him to seek out a Mexican trainer when he moved to the States.
Many European boxers and boxing fans have that same admiration for the Mexican style. Ricky Hatton called himself "The Manchester Mexican" and came into the ring for some of his fights wearing a sombrero.

Another UK boxer, an Irish traveller called Michael Armstrong, took it a stage further than Ricky and Golovkin .. he not only wore a sombrero, but actually changed his name, legally, to Michael Gomez, and passed that name down to his children.
One of his sons, Michael Gomez Jr, is following in his dad's fistic footsteps.
