But I can say that World of Boxing representatives tried to show themselves as white knights and at the same time they simply stole the WBA belt from Gassiev. Funny that they were advertising Lebedev-Gassiev fight as a fight for two belts - both WBA and IBF.
They talked some weird things without any proofs and they tried to mix boxing with politics which is considered to be a dirty move by myself and many of my countrymen.
Fair play & thanks for sharing your take.

Interesting to get people's take on how cats run boxing in other countries & their opinion on that. Thats one of the things I enjoy about this forum is you get to peek however briefly on things you'd never get to peek in on really from your own country/region for this worldwide sport.

Easily the best fight in the tourney besides Usyk vs Gassiev!

This fight should be getting blasted with promotion all over due to boths style's and KO record!

The fight should've been brought to the East coast!

Going with the Russian, I think Doritos will box him up but get caught with something huge and that will be the end of it!

He was shook from Kalenga who nowhere near has the titan power of KRUSH!

Gonna be a great fight with no need for judges!

Your English is really good so don't worry about that - and I used to teach English so I know what I'm talking about.

By white knights do you mean that they tried to present themselves as being the good guys?

I never quite understood how Lebedev stayed with the WBA belt after his loss but that is not the first time the WBA hasn't sanctioned a unification fight so it could be that they didn't need much convincing by the World of Boxing representatives.

What do most Russians think about Golovkin and this week's fight? I'm curious seeming as Golovkin is Kazakh but his dad was Russian. Maybe it's a generational thing and the older generation see him as a compatriot but the younger generation see him as a Kazakh?

All Dorticos has to do is survive the first 3 rounds without getting knocked out and he will win.

44 years watching boxing, 56 now (with a long break in the middle ) - and I don't recall many times like this.

This has been, and is continuing to be an absolutely exceptional year - I can't keep up with all the YouTubing I need to do on fights I missed but wanted to see.

I think the difference in the past was that there were not many crap years if any. Part of the reason 2017 seems like a feast is because there was so much famine in the preceding years.

A lot of Russians don't like Ryabinsky's fighters, that's true but that's only because they 're known to be limited or they turn into "home champions" after winning some belt, holding it hostage in the country for years, unwilling to unify and feasting on some african bums and no hopers until karma hits them like a boomerang, bites them in the ass like in Troyanovsky/Indongo or Kudryashov/Duradola fight. Plus all that doping stuff that surrounds Povetkin doesn't help the image either

This is exactly the reason why. It's not like everybody hates them, they have their fair share of fans and haters

Randomly I just recalled this video that I could see being seen as pretty f#cking douche by Russians. It comes off as some Russian TMT type team.

Yes. And I don't mean that they are the bad guys. But the problem is that they put too much effort to present themselves as good and for example present Deontay Wilder as a bad guy. Maybe the Bronze Bomber is not an angel but he did nothing wrong in that situation.

And they quickly forgot that Lebedev refused to fight Guillermo Jones for the second time in the same situation Bermane Stiverne was with the fight against Povetkin.

I respect what World of Boxing does. But it don't like how exactly it does.

People in Russia love Golovkin. I don't see that many people try to present him as Russian and I don't do either because Gennady made it clear that he wants to be a Kazakh fighter. So I have to respect his point of view. People think that fight against Alvarez will be close and many are afraid of biased judging in this case.

I forgot one detail. Dmitry Bivol and Sergey Kuzmin don't have haters or simply people who are against them because these fighters are promoted in a different way. I am rooting for this fighters as well.

I don't want to say that all Russians are against World of Boxing. It will be an obvious lie. Lebedev and Povetkin have a lot of fans, they are widely supported for sure. And as I said I respect these fighters. I just want to say that not every Russian boxing fan is routing for them. Comments on local boxing resources show it clearly.
