Both Canelo and ggg (Jacobs) have received gift decisions in the past. But that Lara fight and that draw against Mayweather was mad crazy there is no way you can get a draw from his fight with Mayweather. So I understand ggg concern but if this fight turns into the battle it supposed to be I don't think you even have to worry about the judges with two "power punchers" fighting each other and also both have been accused of tiring at certain points in a fight so maybe either ggg or Canelo capitalizes on that moment. I'm just ready for the action!!

ggg vs jacobs was no gift no way jacobs won more than 4 or maybe 5 but the knockdown was the difference. get over it and move on.

I hope thats ultimately is correct, but usually when two top guys fight it goes to a decision so I'm hoping if thats the case it ends up going to the right guy....although I did bet on this fight knowing that Canelo had two ways to win, legitly or with the help of the judges lol so I'm hoping for one thing while playing the other the thing cuz I know how boxing works after all this time.

Great observation , many fights at the top level often times end up going to a decision. I'm thinking for this fight too many things on the table across the board , which could lead to a KO. I'm with you I want a fair decision as well either way. Yeah I'm putting money on the line on bets too lol.

The Mayweather fight was crazy but the Lara score was legit. Lara ran. Didnt set traps, didn't even try and hit. He just moved, moved, and moved some more. Compare the 2 compubox numbers. Floyd's is what it should look like when a slow plodder who can't cut off the ring looks like whenthey fight a tru technician...Lara landed only 10 more punches and was terrible 28% connect percentage. He also NEVER even hurt Canelo. Canelo hurt him multiple times with body punches.

If I had to guess:

Golovkins choice: Trella
Canelo's choice: Moretti
Compromise: Byrd

In general, it looks like a reasonable choice of judges in terms of past performance, the one exception being Moretti's scorecard of 119-109 for Canelo over Cotto. I'ts not a given from that one card that Moretti will score more for Canelo than the other two though based on other cards he has put in. I only had a quick look at past experience with these judges, so its not comprehensive, but:

Moretti
119-109 Canelo over Cotto
115-113 Canelo over Lara
- given how close this fight was, 115-113 isn't unreasonable
116-112 Canelo/Mayweather
- one could argue Mayweather won by a larger margin than that, so maybe favoured Canelo again
120-108 Canelo over JCC Jr
- same as other 2 judges, no surprises there


Overall seems Moretti either like Canelo's style or favours him (which might be the same thing). Odds-on he scores more for Canelo than the other two judges do (hello SD or MD)

Trella
115-112 for Golovkin over Jacobs
- whatever one thinks of the fight, this is how a lot of people saw it, so looks to be reasonable
- had Golovkin 20-17 over Geale, no shocker there.

Byrd
- was a judge for Wade/Golovkin, fight ended round 2 so doesn't matter
- had it 50-43 for Golovkin vs Monroe (1 other judge same, one had it 49-44), no shocker
- had 120-108 for Canelo v JCC, ie got it right
- had Khan up by 1 point vs Canelo, kind of suggests not one to give Canelo rounds just because he's Canelo

I'm guessing Moretti scores it for Canelo and the other two get it right (and if right means Canelo, then Canelo gets a UD, else Golovkin gets a MD if its close). Unless its one-sided and even Moretti can't screw it up (either way).

I feel like Moretti is always a questionable judge in a major fight, but I'll await the ref & judge dorks to confirm or deny my concerns about him or anyone else. Either way I think everyone goes into this fight knowing Canelo is the money guy & Canelo is the guy who's gotten some extra consideration with judges in many fights in the past so GGG & Abel need to plan out their strategy accordingly.

But scoring Cotto-Canelo 119-109 for Canelo was ridiculous.

And scoring Mayweather-Canelo 116-112 was too close for a fight that wasn't even that close.

So he's 1-2 in these big fights for Canelo.

Let's hope he has a redeeming night this time and evens his record out to 2-2

first time i saw the fight i had 7-5 canelo, second time i had 6-6..lara shouldve done a bit more but there were a few swing rounds. close fight i didnt have a problem with 2 of the judges scores except for that Levi Martinez 117-111 for canelo....wined n dined judge right there

moretti got wined and dined in that one..the only judge that had it the best was John McKaie 117-111...i watched it twice and had 116-112 for nelo. the mayweather score i have no comment..LOL

Let's just say that Golovkin would be smart to not let this one go to the judges.
