Asinia Byfield: Mayweather Got Spooked When I Whupped Davis & Haney In The CatHouse!

Great interview with Byfield. Towards the end he shares some interesting stories of sparring Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney at Mayweather's gym. He says Haney was pulled out of the sparring in the 5th round because his team knew things were about to go downhill for him. Sparring Davis under TMT Doghouse rules (no specific round time limit), Byfield says Mayweather finally was forced to call "time" in a round which lasted 15 to 20 minutes, because Davis was showing significant signs of fatigue. After the action stopped, Mayweather and Davis both stormed out of the door, apparently enraged that it was their side who was forced to relent. Byfield shouted out "Too easy.. this ain't the Dog House, this is the Cat House!" for the whole gym to hear.

Mayweather subsequently began acting oddly towards him, with one unsettling incident in particular where he was in the changing rooms and had the strange sensation that someone was staring at him. He looked up and noticed that it was Mayweather himself. Later on, Byfield tried several times to approach Mayweather in order to take a photo with him but Mayweather seemed to make an effort to stay as far away from him as possible, literally rushing away the moment Byfield began to approach. Byfield feels Mayweather may have got spooked that he handled both Davis and Haney so well in sparring!

He's a super welter right? Wouldn't be surprised if he bossed around a lightweight.

But this cat gots 24lbs on Tank so if Tank was having a bad day or wasn't taking his training seriously as has been rumored than I could see him giving Tank a bad time despite being a lesser fighter all things considered.

I've not been impressed with Haney so much so thats whatever. Although I believe this guy gots 19lbs on Haney too.

Can't be bragging about beating up smaller dudes in sparring lol. This is like when Sergio was calling out Floyd & Manny from 160. Can't call out smaller guys. Thats ***** sh^t.

He was out of shape, fresh off the flight from the UK a few days earlier, jet-lagged, agreed to 6 rounds but they changed it to 8 last minute in the Haney spar and they introduced the Doghouse rules in the middle of the Davis spar with no forewarning.

So while he is a heavier fighter, those factors combined even things up some way.
