Malignaggi: Floyd Told Me He Didn't Cut Off The Ring To Avoid KOing Conor Early [VID]

Mayweather confirmed to Paulie that he purposely avoided cutting off the ring on Mcgregor in order to prolong the fight and allow Mcgregor to last into the later rounds. Whether this was for the purposes of having the opportunity to relish in administering punishment on Mcgregor, or for the purposes of creating more entertainment for the viewing public, is up for debate.

Malignaggi quotes Floyd: "I wanted him to last, I wanted him to take as much punishment as he could take because I knew he couldn't take it. If I cut off the ring, he's gonna get stopped sooner. I don't want to stop him sooner, I want him to take as much as he can."

Floyd tried to back himself for 400k to stop him in the 10th and they wouldn't allow the bet, sounds to me he knew exactly what he was doing, he also made a big deal at the press conference pre fight looking right at Connor saying, can you take it and repeating it, can you take it.

That's not true. He tried to bet that he would stop him before the second half of the 10th round. Meaning he would have won the bet even with a first round knockout.

Well, it would have been a waste of money if the fight didn't go past two rounds

Apparently he let slip in an interview with I think MMA Hour that he ended up giving the money to someone else to bet on his behalf.

Right, but the bet wasn't a 10th round stoppage. The bet was 9.5 rounds OR LESS.

The bet would offer no incentive to carry McGregor. 1st round KO would win the bet.
