I don't think its THAT deep of an issue with Schaefer specifically. I think showing 8 fights all over the world is a f#cking problem.

Sept. 9 Berlin, Germany Usyk vs Marco Huck
Sept. 16 Liverpool, UK Smith vs Skoglund
Sept. 23 San Antonio, Texas, US Dorticos vs Kudryashov
Sept. 30 Riga, Latvia Briedis vs Perez
Oct. 7 Stuttgard, Germany Eubank vs Yildirim
Oct. 14 London, UK Groves vs Cox
Oct. 21 Newark, NJ, US Gassiev vs Wlodarczyk
Oct. 28 TBA Brant vs Braehmer

I mean wtf at that schedule for any premium boxing friendly channel. 8 fights in 8 weeks in 4 countries (Germany to the UK to the US to Latvia to Germany to the UK to the US to ??? for Brant vs Braehmer). That'd be a ruthless schedule for HBO's or Showtime's team to cover & something they've never done that I'm aware of. Idk if WBSS is doing some sort feed themselves for the shows in case a non-boxing friendly channel buys it, but HBO or Showtime wouldn't wanna show that feed they'd wanna do it themselves.

So great idea & love the tournament & will be following it from the first to last fight if I gotta watch the Estonia feed, but this isn't a doable schedule for the boxing players in the market with a budget to afford it. I can't fault HBO or Showtime at staying away from this. But I did assume someone woulda picked it up.

Someone. I mean there are like 9,000 channels these days. Like I said I was leaning towards a sports channel, but its hard to deny they came outta nowhere with this schedule + its not a US friendly tournament with many afternoon shows scheduled so it obviously isn't a easy sell.

Anyone think PBC knew they wouldn't get a US TV deal and so didn't release their fighters?

... I'm not happy that the U.S. boxing fans are not able to watch this on TV...

                Could be.

I don't understand why WBSS wouldn't allow this to be broken up between weight divisions. That likely made this a lot more difficult a sell.

I can't believe SOMEONE doesn't pick this up in the US from the semifinals on & I gotta figure they would still be cool with selling it to the US market from that point on if they don't find a buyer as it seems they haven't. But if I gotta stream this with some bs commentators speaking in gibberish I'm there.

A sports channel of some sort would have probably been the best bet. ESPN or Fox Sports would be my best guesses cuz they could throw that sh^t on one of their sister channels. Meanwhile if they showed some Latvian boxer on HBO 2 or Showtime 3 idk if enough people would even find that sh^t to watch it in the first place.

Basically the tournament is a great idea that many channels would love to show 1 fight of it, but by not letting it be sliced up into 2 or more pieces the WBSS has hurt its chances to sell it at all maybe in the US. Or thats what its kinda looking like since no US TV has been announced & this pops off tomorrow.
Good point, very well out actually!

Makes sense so can't fault it too much but I will fault Richard Schaefer for not trying to go all out and finding something more serviceable.
