Manny Steward Thoughts? and some Taylor

Answer these 2 questions. What are your overall thoughts on him, wether its trainer or commentator and how much do you think he will help Taylor against Winky?

I think Steward is a good trainer but is overrated. Alot of times, he gets fighters when there already good and most of the good one's he has are always lacking something. They never seem to reach there full greatness and they are alot of times inconsistent. Even when they win, they still look ****ty alot of times and he always takes credit for the wins but blames the losses on the fighter.

I think he is a fairly good commentator although sometimes he does seem bias to certain guys.

I was really just going to make a thread about Steward & Taylor but it turned into this. I was really just going to ask you guys your thoughts on Taylor and was it a good idea to axe his trainer? I want you guys to answer that question also. Do you think it was good for Taylor to axe the guy he's had ever since he's been pro and who has led him to be the undisputed Middleweight Champion and 2 wins over Hopkins or is it good because it still seems like Taylor is underachieving and should be looking better with his skill?

Do you think Manny can make him look more coordinated or do you think that Taylor is just probally going to always be slightly uncoordinated, stiff, a littile mechanical looking and that his former trainer just got a bad rap?

I forgot that Steward was training Taylor. I dont know how it will work out. Part of me thinks that Manny will make Taylor look smoother and better then ever in a win but part of me thinks that Taylor is just like that anyway and Manny could make him worse because he is switching trainers when he's on top and Manny's fighters look stiff looking alot of times also. Part of me also thinks that Taylor could just start looking better every fight with age & experince and Manny will get the credit for it but really its just his natural growth and the other trainer couldve done the same. What are your thoughts?

I don't think he will make any difference in Taylor's career. Why change trainers when your undefeated.

Yeah, it sucks because Burns seemed like he was a great guy and they worked well together. He's done so much for Taylor and its kind of like he's being stabbed in the back after he got you to the top.

Then the flip side is that even though he beat Hopkins twice, alot of people were dissapointed in his performances, e****ally in the 2nd fight when you assumed he would come back much better. Like Manny said, "Its great that Taylor is doing this now instead of waiting for a loss, like alot of guys do". If you dont think you are improving as you should then why wait?

I can easily see the arguments both ways and the 17th will tell alot about which one was right.

Burns told Taylor all the right things against Hopkins, but Taylor just didn't listen over the 2nd half of the first fight. Taylor needs to learn to do what his trainer says.

Good post! I think Taylor will beat Winky with or without Manny Steward.

I think Taylor is fighting some of the toughest guys to look good against, it's not easy to look good against Hopkins or Winky, especially Hopkins. For a young green fighter, he did what he had to do to against Hopkins. I think he will win the fight against Winky, but I don't know if he will look great doing it.
