You know, that guy that just became a mandatory challenger for one of GGG's belts, the wbc in particular.
Lol, you can't make this shieeet up! Lara been calling out GGG for years and yawl been making excuses like Lara needs to move up and earn a mandatory spot for one of his belts.
Now Charlo done exactly that and yawl still saying "What has Charlo done to deserve a GGG fight?"
GGG's bluff been called a long time ago by all of the best fighters around his division, but all of a sudden he becomes a businessman when they come calling.Comment

No it won't. This is the problem with all the Haymon fighters and their diva attitudes. One real fight against an opponent who is also having his first real fight, and thus has never proven himself either, does not make you a "superstar." Pacquiao had to fight Barrera, Marquez, Morales, Morales again, Morales again again, Barrera again, Marquez again, and finally Oscar de la Hoya, to become a superstar.
But apparently someone is feeding these Haymon fighters the lie that they only have to beat one fighter on that level to become a superstar (who in Jermell's case hasnt even gotten any wins to prove he's on that level, and thus does not have near the fan base of those fighters, and thus beating him will not even gain you the fans that beating any of those fighters did once), and somehow, these Haymon fighters believe it.
Beating Jermell Charlo, fan wise, is worth about as much as beating 1/3 of Erik Morales. So for Lubin to even gain the equivalent fans of beating Erik Morales three times, like Pacquiao did, nevermind the other wins, Lubin would have to beat Jermell Charlo twelve times.
So no, this won't make anyone a superstar. Boxers actually have to fight the best consistently to become superstars, so that there are other proven boxers actually out there in your division for you to beat and get credit from beating. Since barely anyone at 154, or any other weight class, is fighting the best anymore, that leaves no proven names in the sport anymore for you to beat to get your credit and stardom from, and that's why the sport has been falling apart as we've seen. Now as a substitute for that, all promoters can do is pay their hype men to oversell the opponents that are out there, or start to substitute in the "eye test" for everything, because what's left when no one fights each other? Just the eye test.
This is a great start for Lubin and Jermell. Hopefully neither one gets an attitude that they are a "superstar" off one high level fight, and keeps fighting the best and building a resumé after this.Comment

Hope he wins. I wish boxers had a clear grasp on the history of the sport and their place in the now. Theres only been a couple true superstars over the last cpl yrs. Superstar seems to have a hugely underrated meaningin todays culture.Comment

It would make everyone take notice and put him in line to fight a more established opponent, preferably in a unification. Against Lara or Andrade or someone like that. And honestly, Charlo has absolutely nothing to gain in this fight. If he wins, that is what he should do against some kid with a resume similar to Dominic Wade. If he loses, he lost to some punk kid.
Still, Charlo is going to win. He will jab and move and make it slower and frustrate Lubin, and in the second half of the fight Charlo will take control.Comment
