Comments Thread For: Carl Frampton Confirms Jamie Moore as His New Trainer

Belfast boxer Carl Frampton has confirmed that former champion Jamie Moore has taken over as his new trainer as he looks to start "a new chapter" in his career. The Tiger's Bay fighter, who recently split from manager Barry McGuigan and his Cyclone Promotions team, was previously trained by Shane McGuigan. Frampton enjoyed many successes after turning professional and held world titles at two weights.

No idea how Moore is as a trainer but it won't be hard to be better than fitness trainer Shane, who never boxed himself.

          Literally the worst point ever...

Eddie Futch, Cus D'Amato, Emanuel Stewart and countless other trainers have never fought professionally.

            Ray Arcel.

Although I do think having someone on the coaching team with fighting experience is the best option.

Shane was pretty talented amateur iirc before having to stop due to injuries.

I think this switch is more about money than anything by the sounds of things.

Not sure Moore is the best option, but i guess at this stage training Carl is mostly about getting him fit and sharp and letting him do his thing.

all those guys were experts in the game.

Shane is a boxercise trainer who got the gig because of who his dad is.

Listen to the instructions he was giving Carl in the Leo rematch to understand how little he knows about the game.

Obviously you don't know that much, as you clearly thought it wasn't common for great trainers not to fight as pros. Another poster mentioned Ray Arcel, I believe Virgil Hunter didn't either.

Shane McGuigan gets a hard time for loads of irrational reason:

                  1) he's young so he must be ****
                  2) he's never fought as a pro so he must be ****
                  3) he's a silver spoon kid so he must be ****

Putting aside all that BS just judge him by the results - if nothing else, he's got George Groves a world title when most people thought he was finished.

I'm not saying that I think he's the best coach in the world... but he's obviously not completely ****e either... Jeez...

I think hes **** because the instructions he gives his fighters at crucial times in fights were the polar opposite of what they needed to hear.

I never said there were no great trainers who weren't boxers, you weirdo. have a wank or something you seem desperate for an argument
