Can't really say for sure because Holyfield vs. Foreman only had one option to watch. Mayweather vs. Mcgregor had more free options than legal options.

Look at the series finale of MASH. It held the record for highest rated TV show before the Super Bowl topped it in 2010. Back when MASH had the record there were 3 broadcast channels and cable was in it's infancy. I think the Super Bowl beating the record is more impressive because there are way more channels.

I remember ordering the fight. It was one of those deals where you had to drive to the cable company and pick up a black cable box and I believe the fight was 49.95. 1.5 million Is the correct figure.

A buy rate that remains a record.

Around 100 million have access to PPV today. Eight percent of that total would be 8 million. A figure that Mayweather vs Mcgregor or Mayweather vs Pacquiao did not come close to.
Nice work, pal. It's interesting to read stuff like that.

That was tysons1st fight since going to prison so there was a lot of build up plus Don King was promoting. Quick fact about that fight is Mcneeleys trainer bet 600k that the fight would end in less than a round and with around 30 secs to go in the 1st he throws in the towel on a perfectly coherent game Mcneeley

Yep. That was his first fight post-prison. Lotsa hype around his comeback.

Tyson is the #3 all time boxing PPV draw officially & the only other guy than Floyd to average 1M+ buys per fight, but there is no doubt if PPV had been around more back during Tyson's day like it is today or in the last 10 years he'd be the #1 guy.

I've heard that story. Not sure how true that is, but it was a super sketchy situation thats for sure.

Also they made 6 digits for this demeaning ass ad for Pizza Hut. McNeeley & his team definitely maximized their income from that fight thats one thing I know for sure fix was in or not lol.
