Kubrat Pulev as a World title challenger in 2017.

    • 36 years old in the 8th year of his pro career
    • very decorated amateur dating back to 1999
    • former 2-time European champion
    • 1-time Lineal title challenger
    • former IBF International and WBA Inter-Continental champion
    • best wins KO10 Alexander Ustinov, UD Tony Thompson and SD Dereck Chisora

I can't say specificallly why, but I just find this title defence underwhelming. I know it's being done to keep both titles on Anthony Joshua, but still. Pulev went the distance in his last fight with a man (Kevin Johnson) who AJ KO'd in 2 rounds over 2 years ago in his 13th fight.

I see it as a name for AJ record Pulev is a good heavy but not an A class imo.

It also doesn't help that this fight is on Box Office in the UK. Basically anyone AJ fights now it will be pay-per-view. Just doesn't make sense to me to be paying for fights like this. Fair enough the likes of AJ-Klitschko, AJ-Tyson Fury, or AJ-Wilder. But AJ-Pulev, really?
